Programs

Patient nonadherence to prescribed medical treatment is one of the most serious problems facing the healthcare industry today. Research for noncompliance shows that up to 60% of all medication prescribed is either taken incorrectly or not at all. It is also true that approximately 20% of patients never fill their initial prescriptions. The ScriptAssist program is designed to help patients solve the complex problems associated with nonadherence to treatment.

Assessment Essentials

Nurses assess compliance-related problems in nine areas:

  • Unhelpful health-related beliefs
  • Interpersonal factors
  • Forgetting or disorganization
  • Lack of motivation for lifestyle changes
  • Non-acceptance of disease
  • Difficulty coping with side effects
  • Incomplete symptom remission
  • Symptom remission before treatment is complete
  • Physical or cognitive impairment that hinders compliance.

ScriptAssist partners with our clients to identify a specific class of medication or patient population that would benefit from better prescription compliance. Patients receive personal contact over the phone from experienced Registered Nurses. Our Nurses implement empirically supported psychological techniques, following a structured intervention protocol, to help patients use their medications correctly on an ongoing basis. This service is provided at no charge to either patient or physician, through our client’s sponsorship.

From the outset, ScriptAssist programs are tailored to customer requirements. The program can be applied to virtually any disease state or therapeutic class. We work with our clients to identify physicians who might benefit from the program. Then, we enroll patients through these targeted physicians and begin patient outreach calls, following procedures to support patient consent and confidentiality. Early intervention is an essential program component—by identifying patients through their treating physician, ScriptAssist is able to reach even patients who would never have filled their initial prescription.
