Reach Out to Your Patients

To enhance health outcomes for patients, it is essential to create a partnership with patients, their families and/or caregivers, and their healthcare providers. Our collective goal is to provide a comprehensive system of support to help people overcome the challenges in living with their health problems. We work hand-in-hand with physicians and their office staff members to promote patients' adherence to treatment plans, while enhancing patient education and providing interpersonal support. Patients who enroll in the ScriptAssist program receive telephone outreach calls from a registered nurse, as well as individually selected educational materials. The first call typically occurs within 5-10 days after the patient is referred to the program. The nurse also provides immediate written feedback to the prescribing physician's office after each call, helping physicians to track patients' treatment progress between scheduled office visits. Between scheduled follow-up calls, patients can leave a non-emergent message during normal business hours and receive a return phone call from "their" nurse.

A Helping Hand

Assessment Essentials

Nurses assess compliance-related problems in nine areas:

  • Unhelpful health-related beliefs
  • Interpersonal factors
  • Forgetting or disorganization
  • Lack of motivation for lifestyle changes
  • Non-acceptance of disease
  • Difficulty coping with any side effects
  • Incomplete symptom remission
  • Symptom remission before treatment is complete
  • Physical or cognitive impairment that hinders compliance

In partnership with treatment providers, we provide a comprehensive team approach so that patients feel supported and cared for. Patients appreciate the fact that they have contact with the same ScriptAssist nurse for all calls. Our service is designed to support patients' relationship with their physician, and to facilitate open communication about medical issues. Enhanced communication leads to treatment that is both more efficient and more effective. ScriptAssist's support program provides a helping hand for patients who have beliefs or habits that potentially interfere with treatment. Our nurses are trained in research-based psychological techniques, as well as current standards of medical care. The service is designed to be educational and supportive. ScriptAssist partners with pharmaceutical manufacturers, insurers, or other health care stakeholders to provide this patient support service at no cost to physicians or to their patients.
